Lymphedema Coverage Mandate Is Law

Gov. Bev Perdue signed H 535, Health Insurance Coverge/Lymphedema into law July 17.  Sponsored by Rep. Tricia Cotham (D-Mecklenburg), the bill requires all health insurance plans to provide coverage for lymphedema treatment, including coverage for gradient compression garments. Rep. Cotham introduced the bill when she learned from a constituent that some health plans do not provide coverage for the treatment or for the expensive gradient compression garments. Rep.


Siebert Elected Chairperson of AOTA Affiliated State Presidents

Carol Siebert, has been elected to serve as Chairperson of the AOTA Affiliated State Association Presidents (ASAP).   Siebert has stepped down as NCOTA president to begin her 3 year term as ASAP Chairperson, as ASAP Bylaws require that the Chairperson not be concurrently serving as president of a state association.  Per the NCOTA bylaws, Siebert will continue to serve on the NCOTA Board of Directors as Member-at-Large, and Lynn Losada, NCOTA vice president, has assumed the office of President of NCOTA.   See letter of resignation attached.


Medicaid Therapy Visit Limits--Implementation Deferred
