This basic to intermediate level course is designed to provide the practitioner with practical tools to effectively address assessment, intervention, and treatment requirements for the mental health needs of older adults. Specifically, the course focuses on the complex steps of assessment, especially the examination of medical, psychological, environmental, and interpersonal variables, as well as appropriate interventions and treatment for the most common geriatric mental health problems.
