Dawn M. Solomon OTD, MS OTR/L
Join us for an engaging session focused on occupational therapy advocacy at the local level. We’ll cover recent legislative updates affecting OT practice in NC, share practical strategies for connecting with your state and local legislators, and explore concrete ways to strengthen your advocacy skills and get more involved in shaping policy that impacts our profession and the clients we serve. We’ll also briefly break down the difference between NCOTA (our state association, focused on North Carolina-specific legislation, licensure, and regulatory issues) and AOTA (our national association, which drives federal policy, reimbursement, and broader advocacy initiatives) and how the two work together. You’ll learn practical ways to engage with AOTA’s advocacy efforts, including their Legislative Action Center, capitol hill days, and grassroots action alerts, so you can plug into advocacy at every level. Whether you’re new to advocacy or looking to deepen your engagement, you’ll leave with actionable steps to make your voice heard. The session will wrap up with an open Q&A, so bring your questions!
