Children and Youth | Audience Level: Introductory
The physical and mental health benefits of nature are well established, especially in young children. However, children today are experiencing a “nature deficit,” causing adverse effects on health and development. This course will explore the many health benefits of exposure to nature in young children through an occupational therapy-based lens while sharing personal experiences with a nature-based OT pilot program. Attendees will learn how to confidently implement nature-based interventions into pediatric occupational therapy practice, with a specific focus on interoception, sensory processing, and emotional regulation.
