On behalf of the American Occupational Therapy Association's (AOTA) Representative Assembly, we are pleased to invite you to be considered for service on a Reactor Panel supporting the revision and approval of the Domains of Competency for the Occupational Therapy Professional.
The Reactor Panel will play a critical role in developing competency domains for occupational therapy professionals, including occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants. The primary purpose of the panel is to review, provide feedback on, and suggest revisions to the proposed competency domains through a structured Delphi survey process. The expert insights of panel members will help ensure that the domains accurately reflect contemporary occupational therapy practice and effectively support competency-based education, fieldwork education, workforce preparation, professional development, accreditation, and other key professional initiatives.
We are seeking occupational therapy practitioners who represent the full depth and breadth of the profession. Our goal is to assemble a diverse panel that reflects a wide range of geographic regions, practice settings, educational backgrounds, and levels of expertise. Panelists will be selected based on these criteria to ensure broad representation of occupational therapy practice.
Service on the Reactor Panel will involve a 4-month appointment, with activities beginning in September 2026 and concluding no later than December 31, 2026. Participation confirmations are anticipated in late August 2026. Panel members will be asked to complete several rounds of Delphi surveys electronically, reviewing and reacting to proposed competency domains and providing recommendations for refinement and consensus development. Time commitments will vary by survey round but are intended to be manageable. If you would like to be considered for participation on the Reactor Panel, please complete the survey linked below. The survey is designed to collect information that will assist in selecting a representative panel and should take approximately 10–15 minutes to complete.
If you have questions about the Reactor Panel, would like additional information, or have trouble accessing the survey, please contact Bryan Gee at bryan.gee@rm.edu. Thank you for considering this opportunity to contribute to an important professional initiative. Your expertise and perspective will help shape the future framework for occupational therapy competencies, and we look forward to the possibility of working with you.
